Fair View Lodge is an impressive three storey holiday property, offering luxurious living for up to 8 people. Making it ideal for a large family, four couples or simply a group of friends wishing to celebrate that special occasion.

Situated on the edge of a private marina opposite the Faircraft Loynes river basin and with the village of Wroxham just a few minutes walk away with its numerous shops, restaurants and inns, it makes for a perfect base to start your holiday.

For most of the year a Day Boat is included in the rental cost, and the very best way to explore the tranquil lock-free rivers of the Norfolk Broads is definitely by boat. (Excludes 25th May - 1st June & 20th July - 6th September)

Cordon Rouge has Winter make-over for 2013 season

19/11/2012

Cordon Rouge under goes a winter make-over ready in preparation for the 2013 season

Over the last few months our popular Broad Tours, passenger trip boat The Cordon Rouge has been in our main workshop undergoing an extensive winter make-over.

Nick Rivett who usually can be seen at the helm as Skipper of  another of our trip boats " The Queen of the Broads" has been at the fore front of the make-over, carrying out most of the sanding, welding and painting as well as suggested many of the new improvements.

Whilst she is has been in the wet dock, all of the topsides and outside seating areas have been sanded and repainted, the hand rails and boarding steps have all been replaced.

Once the top was finished she was ready to be lifted out of the water and sat down, for Nick to start the enormous task of sanding the 7oft hull. With a beam of 13ft 9"you can imagine that we have had to provide him with alot of strong coffee and feed him lots of chocolates and sweets.

The Cordon Rouge was originally built in Wakefield, and then fitted out by Broad Tours in 1987 and since then she has became a local landmark of the Northern Broads. Operating in and out of our Wroxham based boatyard, she is one of our more traditional passenger boats.

This year Nick has really put his mark on the Rouge bringing a new leash of life to her, reinstated the traditional Broads Tours colour scene on both the paint job and with the new design stickers.

The plan is to put her in the water for the end of next week, at this point we can begin the last stage of her make-over, with the inside having an extensive spring clean, new carpets and outside cushions the outside undercover seating areas are both have new roofs and vinyl side covers.

I haven't mentioned to Nick that we plan to lift The Queen of the Broads out of the water after Christmas! I think that i'll wait till he has enjoyed his well deserved Christmas break.

We hope that you will be as excited as we are with her transformation? The Cordon Rouge will start her 2013 season from Easter on-wards and is available for private charter, ideal for wedding celebrations, work social events or a family celebration, for further details on helping you plan a special event contact us on 01603 782207

Enjoy The Broads; competition winner lives his dream!

02/11/2012

The winner of the Broads Authority’s Enjoy the Broads competition is enabling her father to live his dream.

Ron Burke, 63, went out on a day boat on the Broads during a caravan holiday to Norfolk 20 years ago and has wanted to return for a boating holiday ever since. So when his daughter, Eve Burke, won five days aboard a luxury motor cruiser in the online competition which attracted nearly 3,500 entries, fairy godmother Eve made his dream come true.

The year old 44 ft environmentally friendly cruiser, Fair Majesty, which has a Green Boat Mark, is being provided by Norfolk Broads Direct of Wroxham.

Ron, from Worcester Park in Surrey, said: "I’m very excited. I have been looking at the boats on the Broads for years and years and it has always been my ambition to come back. I have never stayed a night on a boat before so this is a dream come true.

"I love fishing so to go out on one of the broads, with no rush, and stop where we like is magic. It will be another thing that I have ticked off in life."

Brian Conley, currently performing as Fagin in Oliver at the Theatre Royal Norwich, pays us a visit for the 2nd time in 2 weeks

23rd July 2012

Brian Conley, currently performing as Fagin in Oliver at the Theatre Royal Norwich, pays us a visit for the 2nd time in 2 weeks.

" This is the 2nd time we have hired a boat from Norfolk Broads Direct and each time we have been very impressed with the level of customer service offered.  The boats are fantastic and it's a great way to enjoy my day off with the family. We were thinking of going to the beach but we wanted to enjoy our lunch in a traditional riverside pub, in a charming little village.”

Oliver has been a great success and is sold out. After attending the performance last night, Ron Atkins said, “It’s one of the best shows I have ever seen - as good as a London show if not better!”

Brian's departing comments as he headed off under Wroxham Bridge was that he wishes he had brought the puppet to the Norfolk Broads and he’ll be giving us a look later in the year for a longer holiday!
