QUESTION
What happens when I arrive?

ANSWER

Once you have arrived at our boat yard, find yourself a temporary parking space on the car park- it is not necessary to buy a ticket as you are parking with us for your stay. Customer toilets are located by the passenger boat boarding points. Report to Reception located by the bridge, where our reception staff, look forward to welcoming you. Please have your booking confirmation to hand ready for your check in. 

We recommend that you pack for your holiday a sturdy pair of leather soled shoes, matches, tourch and first aid items or kit. You will also need to pack food and drink, along with basic cleaning products for your holiday. On board all of our boats and in our waterside properties you will find tea towels, cleaning cloths, sponge, a small amount of washing liquid, a one toilet roll per toilet. In the village of Wroxham is the Roy's Supermarket or alternatively there is a Tesco's on the way into Wroxham from the Norwich direction.   

 


 

QUESTION
Can we pick the craft up earlier?

ANSWER

We endeavour to have the craft ready for the stated takeover times, on occasions craft may be ready earlier, where this is the case we are happy to allow you to take over the craft. However this can never be guaranteed. We would ask for your patience and understanding when the stated times are delayed for operational reasons.

 


 

QUESTION
Does the boat have to be returned to the boatyard?

ANSWER Yes by 9am please on day of departure, in a clean and tidy condition.  During our holiday season we need the boat to be returned on time to enable us to prepare for the next holiday makers.  Your cooperation in this is greatly appreciated.

Can the boat be returned later than 9am?

ANSWER

No - during our holiday season we need the boat to be returned on time to enable us to get it ready for the next arriving customers.

 


 

QUESTION
Are the broads tidal?

ANSWER Yes - there is a rise and fall throughout the broads, the tide and currents gets stronger the closer you get to Great Yarmouth where particular care is required.    

 


 

QUESTION
Is a licence required for driving the boat?

ANSWER No, a licence is not required to enable you to navigate on the Broads.  On arrival you will receive full tuition on how to safely operate your boat.  For people new to boating we recommend the Broads Authority DVD entitled ‘Better Boating on the Broads’.

 


 

QUESTION
Are children allowed to drive the boat?

ANSWER

Children over the age of fourteen are allowed to drive whilst under constant supervision of an adult.

Are dog life jackets supplied?

ANSWER

Dog life jackets are not supplied by the boat yard, a local company may be able to help you- Norfolk Marine 01603 783150

Can we bring electrical equipment?

ANSWER All of our boats are equipped with a 240v inverter enabling you to use appliances with a maximum Wattage of 1500W.

Are there plug sockets on the boat?

ANSWER Yes all of our boats are fitted with a 240V Inverter as stated in the brochure. (Maximum 1500W). All craft are fitted with a 12V lighter socket.

Can we bring our cycles?

ANSWER Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate cycles on any of our vessels although cycle hire is available on the Broads

Can frozen food be stored?

ANSWER

All fridges will have a small icebox; these are not really designed to store frozen food for any great amount of time.

 


 

QUESTION
Can we moor anywhere?

ANSWER You are welcome to sensibly moor anywhere unless stated “No Moorings.  There are many places that you can moor free of charge; however there are also places where there is a charge for mooring, such as the yacht stations at Norwich and Great Yarmouth where facilities are available.   All hire boatyards allow visiting craft at selected times to moor free of charge.

ANSWER

Maps are available free of charge when you check in, additional maps are available at £4 each

How much water is in the tank?

ANSWER

You will leave the boatyard with a full tank, however you are always recommended to top up the tank on a daily basis.

How often does the boat need a pump out?

ANSWER It is anticipated that a pump out may be needed during a weekly hire.  Pump outs are a chargeable service.

QUESTION
How far can I travel in a day by boat?

ANSWER

During your trial run, one of our members of staff will show you how to operate and manoeuvre your boat. The maximum speed limit on the Norfolk Broads is between 3-6mph. Cruising should only be done during the hours from dawn and dusk. You are usually no more than an hour from anywhere. QUESTION
What standard facilities are on our holiday cruisers?

ANSWER

You will find on board all of our holiday cruisers; 240 volt power either from an invertor or via shore power, TV/DVD player, 12 volt cigarette lighter socket, ideal for charging your mobile phone. Toilet and shower (normally these are in the style of wet rooms, see each boat discription for further details) You will find a full selection of bed linen and towels on board consisting of sheets, duvets, pillows, blankets and 2 towels per person. In the galley you can expect to find a fridge, cooker and on most of our boats a microwave, there is a full compliement of cutlery, and kitchen utensils. All of our cruisers are equipped with warm air heating, for those cooler evenings. Life jackets are given to all members of the crew and we even have a range of dog jackets available (please note a £20 deposit is required)

Is there heating on my boat?

ANSWER

All of our cruisers are fitted with a warm air heating system, and on some of the larger boats you will find we fit 2, one for the front and one for the back.

Can I fish?

ANSWER

Yes you can fish from all of our cruisers once moored up or either from the outside of any of our ground floor waterside properties. With its rivers and inland waterways stocked full of species such as pike, perch, chub, bream, roach and tench, the Broads offers some of the best rod fishing around...so even the most inexperienced will soon get a bite. The coarse fishing season runs from 16th June to 14th March, you will need a current Enviroment Agency License, available from post offices or online at www.enviroment-agency.gov.uk.

How much diesel will I use?

ANSWER

This varies on a combination of the following: tides, type of cruiser, distance traveled on your holiday and the amount of time the heating has been running for. Unfortunately it's not possible to estimate before your holiday begins how much fuel you will use. You can make a huge difference on the amount of fuel used by traveling with the tides (not against them), stick to the speed limits or just below, there is no rush, you are on holiday!

Do I need experience to have a boating holiday on the Broads?

ANSWER

You don't need a licence to drive a cruiser and no experience is necessary. When you arrive you will be given a full demonstration of all the equipment on board and a trial run will ensure you are happy driving and mooring the boat. Do I need to bring bed linen or towels?

ANSWER

All of your bed linen is provided, incuding 2 towels per person. The bedding consists of sheet, duvet, blanket, pillows and pillow cases, extra is available on request but please ensure you help our house keepers out by letting reception have your arrival advice sheet. this will be sent to you once your holiday has been booked and paid in full.

Do I need to bring my own Cot or Highchair?

ANSWER

We have a limited number of travel cots and highchairs avaiable for customers staying in our waterside properties. For customers visiting us on-board a cruiser we have again a limited number of cot-sidesb available, these are all available FREE of charge, we would recommend that you ask for further details when making you booking 01603 782207.

 

 


 

QUESTION
Do I get Buoyancy Aids?

ANSWER

All members of your party will be given Buoyancy Aids to fit on arrival, full instruction on when and where to wear these will be given in full whilst a member of our team is showing you around your cruiser.

 


 

QUESTION
What washing facilities are avvailable on the boats?

ANSWER

All of our cruisers have hot and cold running water, at least one shower (this will either be a shower over the sink as a wet room or a seperate cubical) and pump-out toilet. We advise that you have the toilets pumped out at least once whilst on a week long holiday (full advice and guidence on this will be given whilst being shown arond your cruiser).
